|Description||Fictional story, following the wartime experiences of a group of young men from Western Australia. After enlisting in the AIF at the beginning of WW1, they travel to Egypt to continue their training. A period of training is followed by the Gallipoli campaign, climaxing with the futile Allied attacks on Turkish trenches during the ‘Battle of the Nek’.
The film focuses upon the youthful enthusiasm, Aussie larrikinism, mateship and innocence of a group of young men faced with the greatest trial of their lives – the Gallipoli campaign. It celebrates the bitter sweet nature of the Anzac Legend, which juxtaposes youthful innocence and courage with the horrors of war.
